About Me

Me.jpg

I’m Dr Clare Evans, the founder of Into the Light Therapy Dorset. I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist, EMDR therapist, CBT accredited practitioner and highly trained in providing autism diagnostic assessments. I am both  HCPC registered and BABCP (CBT) accredited.

I work with children and adults; aiming to make clients feel safe, heard and met with compassion, providing a space that helps people to gain further understanding of themselves without judgment, while also making change to help them reach their full potential.

Having worked for over eighteen years in services including the NHS, the Institute of Psychology Psychiatry & Neuroscience (IoPPN) and the charitable sector, I have helped with a wide range of difficulties including but not limited to: anxiety presntations, OCD, depression, trauma/PTSD, grief and loss, relationship challenges, low self-esteem, emotion regulation struggles, and making sense of neurodiversity.

I deliver one to one therapy using a formulation (individual understanding) driven approach, with interventions tailored to the person and their needs. I have experience in evidence-based approaches drawn on (but are not limited to) include; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Narrative Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) informed work. This means I can adopt a flexible therapeutic approach based on individual needs, integrating different models where appropriate.

I offer evidence based and NICE guideline adherent assessments for the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder for both children (over the age of 5 years) and adults.

I receive regular clinical supervision from both experienced Clinical Psychologists and an EMDR consultant, to help monitor and improve my practice. I continue to keep abreast of current therapeutic research and my continued professional development as a practitioner is a priority, helping to ensure I deliver the most effective interventions to clients.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, sea swimming, cycling along the promenade and running in nature. I am at my most content sitting with a good coffee listening to and watching the waves, after a bracing swim!
